The beta version of the new catalogue

The German National Library's most-used online service? The portal catalogue – with 43 million accesses a year. The beta version of the new catalogue transitioned to the testing phase in the summer of 2022. It is designed for easy use by the general public.

Launch of cataloguing machine EMa

Two-thirds of the publications collected by the German National Library every year are digital. In other words, nothing can be done without machine-based subject cataloguing – and this has been the case for more than ten years. 2022 saw the addition of a new, flexible tool named EMa.

University partnerships for vocational and advanced training

The German National Library is Germany's central archival library and national bibliographic centre – and is becoming increasingly digital. The mammoth task of digitisation can only be tackled by working cooperatively. Indispensable here: qualified, up-and-coming professionals.

What has been happening at the German National Library? Visitors reaped the benefits of numerous exhibitions, educational formats and events – from Reading Aloud Day, the Days of Exile and the Book Fair to the training of digital eyewitnesses and the Day for Music.
